Meet Ben Fitch

I’m an educator, actor, playwright, musician, voice artist, and writer, with a lifelong love of storytelling in all its forms—whether it happens in a classroom, on a stage, through a microphone, or on the page.

For more than 40 years, I’ve been immersed in performance. I hold a BFA in Acting from the University of Montana and an MFA in Acting from the University of South Carolina, and I’m currently pursuing a Master of Science in Educational Leadership. My professional life has taken me from classrooms to recording studios, from theater stages to film and television sets, but storytelling has always been at the center of it.

My journey as a performer began, somewhat improbably, as the University of Montana’s mascot. Since then, I’ve worked in national commercials, feature films, network television, theater, and voice-over. I continue to audition and work as a voice artist, bringing energy, versatility, humor, and nuance to projects ranging from commercial work to character-driven performance.

As a playwright, my work includes A Christmas Carol: A Radio Play, Hammer, Rey and Dim, and The Sky Between Us. My plays are being produced and licensed by theaters around the country, and I especially enjoy writing work that gives actors rich characters to inhabit while remaining practical, engaging, and producible for theaters of many sizes.

I’m also a multi-instrumentalist, vocalist, and songwriter. I play guitar, banjo, mandolin, and piano, and I’m particularly drawn to projects that allow acting, music, language, and character to overlap. Whether I’m writing a play, recording a voice-over, performing onstage, or working on a song, I’m interested in the same thing: finding the human story underneath it all.

Education is my career, and it has become another important part of how I think about communication, creativity, and connection. Working with young people has reinforced something I’ve believed throughout my life in the arts—that people do their best work when they feel seen, challenged, supported, and given room to discover what they can do.

My path has never been especially linear. I’ve worked as a professional chef in fine-dining kitchens, spent time behind the microphone as a college radio DJ, and collected more than a few other experiences along the way that inevitably find their way into my writing. I tend to think of them not as detours, but as material.

I live in Seattle, where I’m happiest when I can get outside—kayaking, hiking, camping, or heading off somewhere I haven’t been before. I’m a licensed private pilot (strictly for the love of flying, not professionally), an enthusiastic cook who still loves making a genuinely great meal, and someone who believes that a good adventure usually makes for a good story later.
